Daytona Enterprise: Workspace Fixes and IDE Controls
It's time for another update on our enterprise product. We've just rolled out a new Daytona Enterprise release for our customers, and we're excited to walk you through the latest improvements and give you a sneak peek at what's coming down the pipeline.
What's New in This Release
Workspace Creation Shortcut Fix
First up, we've fixed the workspace creation shortcut. This was a crucial update as it paves the way for our upcoming Backstage plugin. Now, when you append a Git repository URL after a slash hash in your browser, you'll be smoothly redirected to the Workspace Creation Wizard with the Git repository pre-selected.
Customizable IDE Options
We've added a new admin feature that allows greater control over which IDEs can be used in your Daytona installation. In the admin dashboard's settings page, you'll find a new "Enabled IDEs" section. Here, you can manage which code editors are available for opening workspaces. This feature is particularly useful for clients who want to restrict IDE usage in their installation.
Built-in Documentation
We've also integrated our enterprise documentation directly into the Daytona installation. You'll notice a new "Docs" link in the sidebar, giving you quick access to all the information you need about our platform.
Coming Soon
We're not slowing down! Here's what we're working on for the near future:
Identity Providers Management: This feature is in its final stages of review and QA. It will allow clients to update identity providers on the fly without requiring a full redeployment of Daytona.
Team Subscription Refactor: We're addressing confusion around teams and subscriptions. We'll outline the full scope of this feature tomorrow and then dive into implementation.
Default Workspace Class Selection: We're adding a new section in the user settings page where users can define their default workspace class, streamlining the workspace creation process.
Non-Dev Container Workspace Creation: We're implementing an option in the Workspace Creation Wizard to create a non-Dev Container workspace, even when the selected Git repository includes a Dev Container file.
We're thrilled about these updates and the direction we're heading. We're committed to pushing out new features weekly, always with the goal of enhancing your experience with Daytona.
