Our Mission
01 -- MISSION
Daytona is dedicated to maximising developer productivity by reducing overhead and empowering developers to focus on what truly matters — coding.
The founders of Daytona embarked on their journey to increase developer velocity by pioneering the first cloud development platform, Codeanywhere, in 2019. Codeanywhere achieved notable success and ignited a market segment, inspiring a wave of competitors. However, it was ultimately ahead of its time.
By 2022, the technological landscape had evolved significantly. The underlying technology for remote development had matured, with IDEs increasingly supporting remote setups and the concept of infrastructure as code for development environments gaining traction. The industry's mindset was shifting, recognizing the need for more streamlined and efficient development tools, yet enterprises often found themselves needing to create their own bespoke solutions.
In response to this evolving landscape, Daytona was born in 2023. We introduced our vision of a self-hosted development environment manager, drawing in foundational customers and investors. The energy around Daytona is vibrant and forward-looking, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to transform the development world.
