Last week, we've been heads-down working on some larger updates, which means fewer user-facing features. Let's dive into what's new and what's brewing.

This Week's Highlight: Role-Based Access Control

Our main accomplishment this week is the introduction of role-based access control. You can now find this new feature in the admin dashboard, specifically in the users panel. Here's what you need to know:

We've introduced three user roles:

  1. Member: This is the default role for all users.

  2. User Admin: Can manage users and licenses.

  3. Owner: Has full control to manage all resources in Daytona, including users, teams, workspaces, and global settings.

We're not stopping there, though. In the coming weeks, we plan to add two more roles: Team Admin and Auditor.

What's Coming Up

We've got several exciting features in the pipeline:

  1. Team Quotas: We're replacing our current subscription model with a quota system. This will allow for more precise resource limit management for users within a team, better aligning with enterprise customer needs.

  2. Audit Logging: Coming this week! Admins will be able to monitor all activity in their Daytona installation through a new panel in the admin dashboard.

  3. Custom Workspace Names: Soon, users will be able to name their workspaces upon creation and rename them on the fly. This should make it much easier to differentiate between workspaces, rather than relying on auto-generated IDs.

  4. SSH Access Control: We're adding a new global setting in the admin dashboard where admins can enable or disable SSH access to workspaces.

Wrapping Up

While this week might seem light on new features, we're laying the groundwork for some major enhancements to the Daytona platform. These updates are all about giving you more control, better organization, and enhanced security.

As always, we're grateful for your patience and support as we continue to evolve Daytona. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping our product, so please keep it coming!

That's all for this week's update. If you have any questions or thoughts, don't hesitate to reach out. See you all next week for more exciting developments!
